Meet Our Designers: Julliettby Anna Kopito | 19.11.14
In an attempt to create a modern and wearable womenswear collection, there has to be a few essential components – the wearer has to feel comfortable, she has to feel cool and she has to feel beautiful. Julliett’s collection, designed by Gili Azoulay, hits all of these notes and then some and more. Expertly creating beautiful pieces which are chic, edgy and hugely feminine, these pieces will make your wardrobe seriously enviable. With intricate shaping and draping that perfectly glides over the female frame – Azoulay seems to know precisely how to make clothes that are what women want.
Telavivian: What one piece of clothing do you wear the most?
Gili Azoulay: With the right jumpsuit you can never go wrong.
What is your idea of the perfect Saturday morning?
Staying in bed for as long as I can, only to be woken up with hugs and kisses from my kids. Getting breakfast in bed would be great too, but that still remains a dream…
What is your favourite drink?
What is your greatest achievement?
Never compromising on what I believe in.
Best wall colour?
Any shade of grey.
If you were to die and come back as an animal, which animal would it be?
What is your perfect accessory?
Any piece of jewellery by Ruby Star does the work.
What would you like to change about the fashion world?
Workers rights in general should be monitored on a global level, and saying NO to the exploitation of minors as workers.
What is your motto?
How would the world be different if it was run by women?
It would smell much nicer, to start with…
What do you like most about your new collection?
The roughness of it.
What is your highest ambition?
To keep enjoying what I’m doing.
If you weren’t a designer, what would you have done instead?
Nothing. I’m doomed…there’s no other option for me but design.
What is your favourite restaurant or cafe in Tel Aviv?
What is your most treasured possession?
Old letters from my brother. This correspondence, from him to me and from me to him, keeps his memory alive to me.
